After downloading

Four steps on either system. Updating means installing over the current version: license and activation are kept.

On a Mac

  1. 01Download and open ClearMeta-3.0.1.dmg.
  2. 02Drag ClearMeta into the Applications folder and open it from there.
  3. 03On first launch macOS says the app was downloaded from the internet. Click Open. This is expected: the app is signed and verified by Apple.
  4. 04Paste your license key and click Activate.

On Windows

  1. 01Download and run ClearMeta-Setup-3.0.1.exe.
  2. 02If SmartScreen shows "Windows protected your PC", click "More info" and then "Run anyway". The warning appears because the installer does not have a Microsoft signing certificate yet.
  3. 03Follow the installer. No administrator password needed.
  4. 04Open ClearMeta, paste your license key and click Activate.

Need help?

The common cases and the way out of each.

"The app can't be opened because it was not downloaded from the App Store" (Mac)

In System Settings, Privacy & Security, under "Allow applications from", choose "App Store and identified developers". Or click "Open Anyway" on that same screen.

"The app is damaged" (Mac)

The download was incomplete. Download it again and check the size is 66 MB before opening.

Intel Mac

Not supported in this version. Get in touch to ask about timing.

"This app can't run on your PC" (Windows)

32-bit Windows, or Windows older than version 1809. Those systems are not supported.

Antivirus blocked the installer (Windows)

Check the file's SHA-256 with Get-FileHash in PowerShell and compare it with the hash on this page. If it matches, the file is the original.

"Server temporarily unavailable" during activation

Check your connection and try again in a moment. Activation needs internet once; after that the app works offline.

"Invalid key" or "device limit"

Contact support with your key at hand.

Updated and the license is gone?

It is not. After updating, the license stays active and no reactivation is needed.

Verify the installer

For anyone who wants to confirm the downloaded file is the original: each installer's SHA-256 and the command that computes the hash on your system.

How to check

On a Mac, in Terminal:

shasum -a 256 ~/Downloads/ClearMeta-3.0.1.dmg

On Windows, in PowerShell:

Get-FileHash "$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\ClearMeta-Setup-3.0.1.exe" -Algorithm SHA256

If the result matches the hash above, the file is the original. If it does not, delete it and download again.

The app opens on the activation screen.

Without a license key it processes nothing. Keys look like CM-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX and are sent through a separate channel, never on this page. Don't have yours yet?
